The Lamb that was Slain
The Bible tells us clearly all throughout scripture that there is no remission of sins without the shedding of blood (Hebrews 9:22). That is God's requirement.
This is because the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). Something has to die because of our sin. When we steal, we kill someone's trust, someone's peace. When we lie, we kill the truth with our words. When we covet our neighbor, we kill our pure heart and what belongs to him/her. Death is a consequence of sin. Just as our sin killed the perfect and blameless Lamb of God, the Messiah Jesus (Yeshua).
Father God (YHVH) tried to teach this lesson to the children of Israel, who were commanded to sacrifice innocent and spotless animals to cover their sins. This was under the Law of Moses:
Exodus 20:22-24 KJV - And the Lord said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked with you from heaven. [23] Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold. [24] An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee.
In the Old Testament (Tanakh), it seems the first allusion to the blood atonement sacrifice of Jesus (God Almighty in the flesh), was by Abel, the son of Adam, the first man.
Genesis 4:4 KJV - And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
In the New Testament, Jesus (Yeshua in Hebrew) is called the firstfruits (1 Corinthians 15:20-23) offering. He is God's first and only begotten son, a firstling (John 3:16) of his flock. Jesus is also called the lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world to whoever believes and repents (John 1:29).
It seems the next allusion to Jesus being sacrificed for our sins, was through the obedience and faith of Abraham after the great flood:
Genesis 22:10-13 KJV - And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. [11] And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I. [12] And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. [13] And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
Abraham was willing to sacrifice his own son, and for that God blessed the seed of Abraham and made him the Father of many nations. This was also alluding to God giving His only begotten Son for our sins.
It's interesting to note that a ram (male sheep) was found to take Isaac's place. Jesus is that male sheep that took our place on the cross.
* Jesus came from the line of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and the root of Jesse, the house of David, just as the Prophets declared in the Old Testament (Isaiah 53).
Another allusion to Jesus (Yeshua) going to the cross for our sins was during the time of Pharoah. Abraham's seed was held captive by Egyptian rulers (Satan's children) for 400 years. When God sent Moses to deliver the promised seed of Abraham, a commandment was sent forth for all Israelites to kill a lamb as atonement for their sin and for a covering from the wrath of God (YHVH).
Exodus 12:5-14 KJV - Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats: [6] And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. [7] And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it. [8] And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. [9] Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof. [10] And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire. [11] And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the Lord's passover. [12] For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord . [13] And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are : and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you , when I smite the land of Egypt. [14] And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the Lord throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.
An atonement sacrifice had to be made for forgiveness of sins, and this is why Jesus told the people of Israel this:
John 6:53-57 KJV - Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. [54] Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
[55] For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. [56] He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. [57] As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.
There are many hidden secrets and prophecies in the Old Testament (Tanakh) that point to Jesus, and it takes an open mind and heart to recieve it.

As concerning the sacrifices of sin, there is no more sacrifices needed but the blood of Jesus (Yeshua).
Hebrews 10:1-32 KJV - For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. [2] For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins. [3] But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year. [4] For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. [5] Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: [6] In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. [7] Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God. [8] Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein ; which are offered by the law; [9] Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. [10] By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all . [11] And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: [12] But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; [13] From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. [14] For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. [15] Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, [16] This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; [17] And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. [18] Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. [19] Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, [20] By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; [21] And having an high priest over the house of God; [22] Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. [23] Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) [24] And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: [25] Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is ; but exhorting one another : and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. [26] For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, [27] But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. [28] He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: [29] Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? [30] For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. [31] It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. [32] But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions;
