Rising Tensions!
The Strait of Hormuz is under attack as commercial tankers are being targeted. This could wipe out nearly a third of all seaborne-traded oil and almost 20% of all oil produced globally if the commercial tankers do not conduct business as usual. A blow to the world's oil supply could cause a spike in worldwide gas prices and a financial meltdown.
In addition, these attacks could spur a war between U.S. and Iran as Iran is under allegations. Russia and China are also allies of Iran (Ezekiel 38), and it seems as though a global WW3 climate is escalating.

Saudi Arabia on Monday said two oil tankers were damaged significantly in a “sabotage” attack over the weekend near the Strait of Hormuz, intensifying the spotlight on the waterway — the world’s biggest potential choke point for global crude shipments.
A Norwegian-flagged vessel was also damaged, according to reports. Details surrounding the incident remain unclear, but it comes at a time of already heightened tensions between the U.S. and Iran following Washington’s decision to reimpose sanctions on Tehran. The United Arab Emirates said the alleged attack on Sunday targeted four ships off the coast of the port city of Fujairah, which lies about 85 miles (140 kilometers) south of the Strait of Hormuz

CLM9+0.7%UK:LCON9+0.98% soared early Monday, with traders citing the attack as a factor for the rally. Crude gave up those gains, however, turning lower as a global equity selloff tied to an escalating tariff battle between Washington and China sent U.S. stocks tumbling, leaving the S&P 500 SPX+0.71% down 2.6% and the Dow Jones Industrial AverageDJIA+0.61% down by around 700 points at its lowest point on Monday.

Where is the Strait of Hormuz?
The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow waterway that links the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea. At its narrowest point, the waterway is only 21 miles wide, and the width of the shipping lane in either direction is just 2 miles, separated by a two-mile buffer zone.
Why is it important?
Oil tankers carrying crude from ports on the Persian Gulf must pass through the strait. Around 18.5 million barrels a day of crude and refined products moved through it in 2016, nearly a third of all seaborne-traded oil and almost 20% of all oil produced globally, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. That makes the Strait of Hormuz the world’s most sensitive oil transportation choke point.
What’s the threat?
Iranian officials last month threatened to interrupt the flow of oil through the strait after the Trump administration said it would end waivers that allow countries to import Iranian oil.
Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, in early May, said the country had no interest in escalating tensions with the U.S., according to Iranian news agency Tasnim. He said Tehran viewed the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz as “our lifeline” and wanted them “safe, secure and free for navigation of all countries, including Iran.”

A US civilian contractor was killed and several US service members and Iraqi personnel were wounded in a rocket attack on the K1 base near Kirkuk on Friday night.
It is the most serious escalation in a series of rocket attacks that have targeted bases in Iraq where American and US-led coalition troops are present.

More than six US Air Force F-35A Lightning II fighter jets left Al-Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates at around 2 am Wednesday, according to multiple sources, possibly heading to respond to Tuesday night’s Iranian attack on American targets in Iraq.
The warplanes left the UAE just about two minutes after the Ain Al-Asad Air Base came under rocket and missile fire from Iran, and from a local Iranian proxy militia in Iraq.
There are at least 5,000 American troops in Iraq, according to a report by Fox News. The Pentagon has told reporters there is no plan to withdraw forces at this time; officials told Fox News, “We are defending. We are not leaving.” The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Forces (IRGC), fired at least 12 Fateh-110 ballistic missiles from Iran at various sites where American forces are located, including many which were aimed at Ain Al-Asad.
The Kataib Hezbollah militia, which is the 45th Brigade of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Unit (PMU) and an Iranian proxy group, fired at least 40 Katyusha rockets at the base as well.
The missiles exploded in the US military camp in Ain Al-Asad, which hosts US and UK personnel as well as Iraqi forces, according to Middle East defense correspondent Babak Taghvaee.
Ain Al-Asad was not the only military base that was attacked, however; two other bases in use by the US Army in and near Erbil were also targeted by the Iranian IRGC Aerospace Base.

On Sunday, one rocket hit an embassy cafeteria at dinner time while two others landed nearby, a security source told AFP.
A senior Iraqi official told AFP at least one person was wounded, but it was not immediately clear how serious the injuries were and whether the person was an American national or an Iraqi staff member working at the mission.
The US embassy did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Ali Hosseini suggested a union between Iran, Pakistan, Russia, Turkey and China. Speaking at the Islamabad Strategic Studies Institute (ISSI) on Tuesday, Mr Hosseini urged the countries to utilise their “great potential and existing opportunities”. Seven captains and two service personnel awarded Russia's highest honorary title, Hero of the Russian Federation, were among those who died on board the vessel, the president said.

7/5/19 - It seems rising WW3 tensions increase even more as the world's oil supply is at stake. It is said China gets 91% of its oil from the Strait and Japan a majority percentage as well. Putting a spotlight on the Strait of Hormuz which is linked to the Persian Gulf oil exports from middle eastern countries.
The vessel was stormed by British Royal Marines and Gibraltar port and law enforcement agencies in the early hours of Thursday morning as it was believed to have been carrying oil to Syria, in possible violation of European Union sanctions.

7/7/19 - Nuclear talks and WW3 tensions are continuing to increase as Iran threatens to reduce compliance in the nuclear deal unless other nations oppose President Trump's economic sanctions on Iran as punishment for shooting down a US drone and alleged oil tanker attacks in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian officials said they would, within hours, start enriching uranium above the limits set under a 2015 international nuclear deal, the latest in a series of potentially fatal stab-wounds in the agreement. They also said Iran would keep reducing its compliance with the deal every 60 days unless world powers shield it from the sanctions that Trump reimposed after quitting the agreement last year.
“We are fully prepared to enrich uranium at any level and with any amount,” said Behrouz Kamalvandi, spokesman for Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, according to media reports.

Lines are being drawn as a coalition of nations are opposing America and Israel, some of the nations are Iran, Russia, Turkey, China, and others.
"The Trump administration is planning to send US Navy ships to help escort oil tankers in the Gulf in order to protect them from possible Iranian aggression. But some experts warn the move could cost a lot of money and risk pulling the US and Iran into a war neither wants."

A small oil tanker that stopped transmitting its location more than two days ago while traveling through a vital waterway near the Persian Gulf didn't emit a distress call, causing U.S. officials to suspect Iran may have seized the vessel, American defense officials said Tuesday.
The MT Riah, a Panamanian-flagged vessel based in the United Arab Emirates, was traveling Saturday night through the Strait of Hormuz when its tracking system went dark. The disappearance could add to already-heightened tensions between Iran and Western nations in the region.
"Could it have broken down or been towed for assistance? That's a possibility," an unidentified U.S. official told The Associated Press. "But the longer there is a period of no contact. It's going to be a concern."
If Iran did seize the ship, it's apt to be the latest in a series of provocations involving oil tankers in the region. Iran has threatened to stop tankers in the strait if it is not allowed to sell its own oil abroad.
Around 20 percent of all crude oil passes through the strait.
The 190-foot tanker stopped transmitting its location around 11 p.m. as tracking data showed its last position pointing toward Iran.

Iran, Russia, China, Turkey, North Korea, and other allies are standing in solidarity against the United States and Israel. It appears we are on the precipice of an all out nuclear war.
The Speaker of Iranian parliament, Ali Larijani, has once again relished the thought of "looking to East", and dreaming about a long term "strategic relationship" between Tehran and Beijing.
“Looking to East”, and dreaming of a closer relationship with China and Russia have always been a favorite refrain for the Islamic Republic's officials, especially when they find themselves facing outside pressures.
Immediately after meeting the head of the International Liaison Department of the Communist Party of China, Song Tao, on July 30, in Tehran, Larijani asserted, "Consultations between Iran, China, and cooperation of certain friendly countries can help counter the U.S. animosity and neutralize its consequences, " adding, "However, success of this plan is contingent upon practical steps."

THE PENTAGON – Officials in Tokyo have requested Marines deploy F-35B fighters aboard Japan’s largest warships, a U.S. defense official confirmed to USNI News on Friday.
The service is now studying the feasibility of deploying short take-off vertical landing (STOVL) fighters from JS Izumo (DDH-183) and JS Kaga (DDH-184), Japan’s 24,000-ton big deck amphibious.
This move seems to upset China and be seen as an offensive.
For Japan, the move comes as the Chinese expand their regional naval ambitions.
“Chinese naval capabilities are growing rapidly in the region and I think this is an important step in strengthening the US-Japanese alliance. The Japanese acquisition of F-35Bs will enhance their maritime and aviation capabilities in the region and will further bolster interoperability between Japanese and U.S. military forces,” Eric Wertheim, author of U.S. Naval Institute’s Combat Fleets, told USNI News, Friday. “It will also help ease the burden on U.S. assets that are stretched thin responding to a long list of global crises.”
Beijing has been critical of Japan’s move to put fighters on the two warships saying that they could be considered an attack platform and a violation of Japan’s pacifist constitution.

It was an audacious assault on the world’s largest oil production plant.
The Sept. 14 attack on Saudi Arabia at Abqaiq and Khurais, the world’s largest processing and oil production centers, halted more than half of the country’s oil production. The loss of 5.7 million barrels a day of oil exports makes it the single largest oil supply disruption in history. This loss of oil represents nearly 5% of the world’s total daily oil supply. The U.S. and some of its allies have reasons to believe Iran’s political regime is responsible for the unprovoked attack and counter measures need to be taken immediately.
Some countries are positioning themselves with Iran, such as China, which established a line of credit of $400 billion with Iran. This makes it possible, according to Iranian.com, “for Chinese investors to undertake projects in Iran without bidding.” This line of credit, at the same time, directly pays for access to political influence at the highest levels and grants access to oil at the lowest prices.

But maintaining control over oil fields in Deir El-Zor and al-Hasakah gives the U.S. an excuse to leave some forces in Syria. Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday amid simmering tensions between Iran and the United States as the strike group encountered the Iranian navy on its way into the Persian Gulf (Arabian Gulf), but all interactions were safe and professional, according to Commander Boyle.
The Strait of Hormuz is considered the world's most important oil artery as about a fifth of the world's oil passes through, making it of utmost significance to the global oil market.

A US civilian contractor was killed and several US service members and Iraqi personnel were wounded in a rocket attack on the K1 base near Kirkuk on Friday night.
It is the most serious escalation in a series of rocket attacks that have targeted bases in Iraq where American and US-led coalition troops are present.
Since May there have been at least a dozen of these attacks. Some wounded Iraqi security forces, but US forces had not suffered casualties before.

On December 6, David Schenker, assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern affairs at the US State Department, indicated that Iran could be behind the attack on Iraq’s Balad air base. In that attack two Katyusha rockets landed inside Balad air base north of Baghdad. “We’re waiting for full evidence, but if past is prologue then there’s a good chance that Iran was behind it.”

BAGHDAD — Iranian official news media confirmed that a powerful commander of its Revolutionary Guards Corps, Maj. Gen. Qassim Suleimani, was killed in a strike on the Baghdad International Airport early Friday.
The United States carried out the strike, the Pentagon said.
“General Soleimani was actively developing plans to attack American diplomats and service members in Iraq and throughout the region,” the Pentagon statement said. “General Soleimani and his Quds Force were responsible for the deaths of hundreds of American and coalition service members and the wounding of thousands more.”
Iraqi and Lebanese television also reported the death, which was confirmed by senior militia leader in Iraq.

More than six US Air Force F-35A Lightning II fighter jets left Al-Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates at around 2 am Wednesday, according to multiple sources, possibly heading to respond to Tuesday night’s Iranian attack on American targets in Iraq.
The warplanes left the UAE just about two minutes after the Ain Al-Asad Air Base came under rocket and missile fire from Iran, and from a local Iranian proxy militia in Iraq.
There are at least 5,000 American troops in Iraq, according to a report by Fox News. The Pentagon has told reporters there is no plan to withdraw forces at this time; officials told Fox News, “We are defending. We are not leaving.” The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Forces (IRGC), fired at least 12 Fateh-110 ballistic missiles from Iran at various sites where American forces are located, including many which were aimed at Ain Al-Asad.
The Kataib Hezbollah militia, which is the 45th Brigade of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Unit (PMU) and an Iranian proxy group, fired at least 40 Katyusha rockets at the base as well.
The missiles exploded in the US military camp in Ain Al-Asad, which hosts US and UK personnel as well as Iraqi forces, according to Middle East defense correspondent Babak Taghvaee.
Ain Al-Asad was not the only military base that was attacked, however; two other bases in use by the US Army in and near Erbil were also targeted by the Iranian IRGC Aerospace Base.
The attack is seen as the “official launch” of the start of Iran’s “Operation Soleimani” – the military operation intended to wreak vengeance on the United States in retaliation for last week’s targeted killing of IRGC Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani.

(CNN)A Russian warship "aggressively approached" a US Navy destroyer while it was operating in the North Arabian Sea Thursday, ignoring warnings from the US vessel and increasing the risk of a collision, the US Navy said Friday.
Video of the incident, which was obtained by CNN, shows the Russian warship rapidly approaching the USS Farragut, coming as close as 180 feet to the US ship before changing course, according to two defense officials.
The incident is the latest example of a close encounter between US and Russian military forces that American officials have described as unsafe and provocative.
It comes roughly seven months after another incident in the Pacific when US and Russian warships came so close the US ship had to perform an emergency maneuver to avoid a collision.

Three rockets slammed into the US embassy in Iraq's capital on Sunday in the first direct hit reported after months of close calls, as thousands kept up anti-government sit-ins across the country.
The attack marked a dangerous escalation in the spree of rocket attacks in recent months that have targeted the embassy or Iraqi military bases where American troops are deployed.

The Trump administration’s top envoy for Iran just put assassination back on the table when he said the US will take out the successor to slain Iranian military leader Qassem Soleimani — if the successor continues along the path of killing Americans.

The Pentagon's top policy official told The Associated Press this week that a a nuclear warhead of reduced destructive power had been fitted onto a Trident II intercontinental ballistic missiles carried by nuclear submarines.
Moscow has rejected U.S. allegations that Russia was considering such a conflict. The Russian government long has criticized the Pentagon's plans to develop low-yield nuclear weapons, arguing that a limited nuclear conflict would inevitably escalate into a full-blown nuclear war.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said Wednesday that the new missile's deployment is an indication the United States views a low-intensity nuclear conflict as a feasible option. He described the U.S. move as “very alarming.”
"It's a reflection of the fact that the U.S. lowers the nuclear threshold and considers it possible to wage a limited nuclear war and win such a war,” Ryabkov said in remarks carried by Russian news agencies.

Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Ali Hosseini suggested a union between Iran, Pakistan, Russia, Turkey and China. Speaking at the Islamabad Strategic Studies Institute (ISSI) on Tuesday, Mr Hosseini urged the countries to utilise their “great potential and existing opportunities”. Mr Hosseini claimed a new bloc could have the potential to form a new alliance for a better future in the region.
Mr Hosseini condemned the US for last month’s killing of General Soleimani.
He said: “Once again they have proved to everyone that they have no obligation and respect to international rules and laws.
“The crime was not only to attack the national sovereignty of Iraq but also to target one of the elements ‘providing security’ in this region subject to different conspiracies from al Qaeda to ISIS and Al-Nusra Front.”

However, Iran can respond to US pressure by attacking ships in the Persian Gulf or striking at US forces in Iraq or US allies and partners. This is how Iran has responded in the past.
It has not been explained what connection the cyberattack on the Iranian port where the ships were loaded has to the current crisis at sea. Iran had been trying to get the Shahid Rajaee Port online for greater production.

Russian Senator Vladimir Dzhabarov said the US' decision to end sanctions waivers that had allowed some work to proceed at Iranian nuclear sites will only provoke Tehran into developing nuclear weapons, according to Interfax . Mr Dzhabarov warned the move by the US would trigger Tehran into creating a "nuclear bomb, unequivocally" as tensions reach boiling point.
He said: "The US is pushing them and in the end they are provoking Iran to create a nuclear bomb, unequivocally."
He said Russia would continue to cooperate with Iran.
