The Holy Days

This is a good way of showing the connection between the new covenant God made with us through the life, death, and ressurection of Jesus/Yeshua to the old covenant God made with the seed of Abraham through the law of Moses and the levitical priesthood. The New Covenant was sealed by the shedding of the blood of the Lamb of God (Jesus/Yeshua - Luke 22:20) and bridges the old covenant with the children of Israel and the levitical priesthood to anyone who calls upon the name of the LORD Jesus (Acts 2:21).

Hebrews 9:6-15 KJV - Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God. But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people: [8] The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing: [9] Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; [10] Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation. [11] But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; [12] Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. [13] For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: [14] How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? [15] And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

Apostle Paul later revealed that our bodies are now the temple of God and He which dwelt in the Holy of Holies now dwells in us:

1 Corinthians 3:16 KJV - Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

Moedims

According to Leviticus 23, their are 7 "Feast" days that are outlined by God in that the children of Israel must keep. Also, the Bible says God created the sun, moon, and stars for signs and appointed times (moedims - Genesis 1:14). Which gives relevance to the Revelation 12 sign on September 23, 2017.

God did 7 major things for the seed of Abraham in the old testament, from the passover lambs to the exodus, to the 40 years in the wilderness, to the giving of the law to Moses, to the establishment of the levitical priesthood. Those events are remembered each year through these 7 Feast Days or Holy Days (Moedims) required for the people of Israel.

Every year these Holy Days are honored and remembered within Judaism and Messianic Judaism. There are 4 Spring days, and 3 Fall days (Moedims). These days are recognized as times of celebration and to remember what Yahweh has done for His people. Yet, they are also a shadow of what was to come by means of the Messiah/Christ.

The Bible says that Holy Days are a shadow of things to come (Col. 2:17). The Holy Days are based on certain days of the month and the months are established by the new moons.

Jesus/Yeshua with His death, burial, resurrection, and then sending His Holy Spirit at Pentacost fulfilled the first 4 Spring Holy Days, and each event is said to have fallen on the respective Moedim day.

There are three more Fall Holy Days or feast days (Moedims) that are yet to be fulfilled under the New Covenant with the blood of Yeshua/Jesus. The next Moedim in line is Yom Teruah (feast of Trumpets) and some speculate that Jesus will catch up (rapture) the faithful Christians at that time.

1 Thessalonians 4:15-17 KJV - For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. [16] For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: [17] Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

There are the 7 (God's Number of Completion) Feast Days/Appointed Days/Holy Days as declared in Leviticus 23, not including the weekly Sabbath.

Leviticus 23:1-3 KJV - And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, [2] Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the Lord , which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts. [3] Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings.

Spring "Feasts" days:

  - Passover (Pesach)
  - Unleavened Bread (Hag Matzot)
  - First Fruits (Reishi)
  - Pentecost (Shavuot)

Fall "Feasts" days:

  - Trumpets (Yom Teruah)
  - Atonement (Yom Kippur)
  - Tabernacles (Sukkot)

Passover

Leviticus 23:4-5 KJV - These are the feasts of the Lord , even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons. [5] In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the Lord's passover.

Passover (Pesach) - God offered protection to the Israelites who were in bondage to Egyptian rule. God used Moses to order the Israelites, Abraham's seed, to kill a spotless lamb as an atonement for sins and smear the blood over the doorframe. When the darkness came and took the firstborn children of the people, the ones with the blood covering were passed over and not harmed.

This is echoed with the New Testament promise, where Jesus died as a Holy Lamb of God on the Cross at Cavalry for anyone who accepts His blood as atonement for their sins and follows Him, accepting him as their Lord and Savior. These people, saved by the blood of Christ, will not suffer the darkness and the second death in the lake of fire (God's wrath). With the blood of Jesus, judgement will Passover them if they remain in His words.

Unleavened Bread

Leviticus 23:6-8 KJV - And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the Lord: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread. [7] In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein. [8] But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord seven days: in the seventh day is an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein .

Unleavened Bread (Hag HaMatzot) - after the Passover in Egypt, the Israelites were to eat unleavened bread for 7 days. This represents how God brought them hastily out of Egypt while sinless - being covered by the sacrificed lambs as atonement at Passover. The Israelites did not have time to put yeast in their bread for their deliverance out of Egypt was immediate, and they were without sin at that time.

This was echoed by Christ Jesus as He rested in the tomb after dying on the cross, and rested in the tomb for 3 days without sin. Jesus/Yeshua is the only sinless atonement sacrifice for sin (Isaiah 53). Paul reveals that unleavened bread represents people without sin (Luke 12:1, 1 Corinthians 5:7-8), eitherbcorporately as the body of Christ or personally. Jesus called Himself the "bread of life" as found in John 6, and He was without sin, or "leaven."

Firstfruits

Leviticus 23:9-16 KJV - And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, [10] Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest: [11] And he shall wave the sheaf before the Lord , to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it. [12] And ye shall offer that day when ye wave the sheaf an he lamb without blemish of the first year for a burnt offering unto the Lord . [13] And the meat offering thereof shall be two tenth deals of fine flour mingled with oil, an offering made by fire unto the Lord for a sweet savour: and the drink offering thereof shall be of wine, the fourth part of an hin. [14] And ye shall eat neither bread, nor parched corn, nor green ears, until the selfsame day that ye have brought an offering unto your God: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

Firstfruits (Reishit) - on Passover in the Old Testament times, a marked sheaf (head/bundle) of grain was left standing in the field as an offering, and on the 3rd day of unleavened bread it was cut and prepared for an offering to God.

This is echoed by Jesus as he rose from the dead and put on the incorruptible flesh on the 3rd day, being the first fruits of the harvest of souls under the New Covenant. Likewise, Christians will be resurrected at the appointed time, in order to be priests and kings in the Kingdom of Heaven (1 Corinthians 15, Revelation 20:4) when Jesus returns to establishes His Kingdom on earth.

Pentacost

Leviticus 23:15-22 KJV - And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete: [16] Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the Lord . [17] Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals: they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baken with leaven; they are the firstfruits unto the Lord . [18] And ye shall offer with the bread seven lambs without blemish of the first year, and one young bullock, and two rams: they shall be for a burnt offering unto the Lord , with their meat offering, and their drink offerings, even an offering made by fire, of sweet savour unto the Lord . [19] Then ye shall sacrifice one kid of the goats for a sin offering, and two lambs of the first year for a sacrifice of peace offerings. [20] And the priest shall wave them with the bread of the firstfruits for a wave offering before the Lord , with the two lambs: they shall be holy to the Lord for the priest. [21] And ye shall proclaim on the selfsame day, that it may be an holy convocation unto you: ye shall do no servile work therein: it shall be a statute for ever in all your dwellings throughout your generations. [22] And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not make clean riddance of the corners of thy field when thou reapest, neither shalt thou gather any gleaning of thy harvest: thou shalt leave them unto the poor, and to the stranger: I am the Lord your God.

Feast of Weeks/Pentacost (Shavuot) - In the Old Testament times (Torah), it is believed that God gave Moses (Moshe) the Ten Commandments at this time and God showed his power and glory on the mount of Sinai (50 days after Passover). The Israelites have been led from Egypt to Mount Sinai by God himself, who appeared by day as a cloud and by night as a fire (Exodus 13:21). This people.of Israel offered up new grain or summer wheat in thanksgiving to the LORD.

This is echoed in the New Testament  by the outpouring of the Holy Spirit to the Apostles and followers of Christ in the upper room at the first Pentecost 50 days after Jesus was crucified on Passover. This represents, God's authority and power being given to the new Church (Body of Christ) for the beginning of the Harvest of souls and the establishment of the New Church under the New Covenant.

Hebrews 8:10-13 KJV - For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: [11] And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. [12] For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. [13] In that he saith, A new covenant , he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

Trumpets

Leviticus 23:23-25 KJV - And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, [24] Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation. [25] Ye shall do no servile work therein : but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord.

Feast of Trumpets (Rosh haShanah/Yom Teruah) - In the Old Testament age, the Israelites celebrate the beginning of the New Year on this day, by blowing trumpets as a memorial to the LORD and offerings will be made by fire.

This Moedim/Holy Day does not appear to have been echoed yet by any New Covenant event to-date. For instance, Jesus died on Passover, rested in the tomb during Unleavened Bread, rose on First Fruits, and sent the Holy Ghost on Pentacost.

Some speculate that Rosh Hashanah/Feast of Trumpets/Yom Teruah will be the day of departure for the faithful Christians as referenced in Revelation 3:7-11. Also, the "birthday" of the Kingdom of Heaven in Revelation 12:

Revelation 12:5 KJV - And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.

We know the birthpains are rapidly increasing as described in Matthew 24, yet will we be delivered before Labor Day?

Isaiah 66:7-9 KJV - Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child. [8] Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children. [9] Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the Lord : shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb ? saith thy God.

Atonement

Leviticus 23:26-32 KJV - And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, [27] Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord . [28] And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the Lord your God. [29] For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people. [30] And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people. [31] Ye shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings. [32] It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath.

Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) - In the Old Testament, the LORD called this day to be a day of affliction (probably fasting and prayer) for all people in Israel and a day to make atonement sacrifices by fire to the LORD. If anyone did not afflict themselves that day, they were to be cut off from the people and those who did servile work that day were to be destroyed as well for not keeping the day Holy.

It is speculated that this day will be echoed when the Messiah Jesus is revealed to His people in Israel (Zechariah 12:10) after the Great Tribulation, and they will know Him as the atonement sacrifice for their sin. Yet it appears only 1/3rd will be saved (Zechariah 13:8-9). This has happened in part after the resurrection of Jesus, but I believe it will reach fullness during Daniel's 70th week (7 year Tribulation).

It could be that the Day of Atonement will be represented by Daniel's 70th week, as foretold by prophet Daniel:

Daniel 9:24 KJV - Seventyweeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

It could be that since the LORD knows the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10), that He had Israel afflict themselves as a solemn memorial of what is to come during the 7 year tribulation.

Daniel 12:1 KJV - And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

Revelation 14:19-20 KJV - And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. [20] And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

* note - It is my belief this will happen probably in the first 3.5 years of the 7 year period (Daniel 9:27) when the 2 witnesses (Revelation 11) are prophesying in Israel while the Man of Sin rises into global power (Revelation 13).

Tabernacles

Leviticus 23:33-43 KJV - And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, [34] Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the Lord . [35] On the first day shall be an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein . [36] Seven days ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord : on the eighth day shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord : it is a solemn assembly; and ye shall do no servile work therein . [37] These are the feasts of the Lord , which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord , a burnt offering, and a meat offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, every thing upon his day: [38] Beside the sabbaths of the Lord , and beside your gifts, and beside all your vows, and beside all your freewill offerings, which ye give unto the Lord . [39] Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the Lord seven days: on the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath. [40] And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the Lord your God seven days. [41] And ye shall keep it a feast unto the Lord seven days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month. [42] Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths: [43] That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.

Tabernacles (Sukkot) - In Israel this is known as a weeklong celebration of the Fall Harvest where Jews gather the fruit of the land and rejoice. Also, they are to build temporary shelters (booths) paying homage to when God protected the Israelites in the Desert for 40 years after being saved from Egyptian bondage.

Jesus said, "I am the light of the world." (John 8:12) Just as the born again believer is filled with the Holy Ghost (oil) and is a lantern (light) to all the nations, just as Israel was. So in a way, we are Tabernacles for the Holy Spirit, our bodies are temples.

Some speculate that this Feast Day will be echoed in the New Testament when the Saints receive their eternal bodies and return to dwell in New Jerusalem under Jesus' Kingship, enjoying the fruit of the harvest of souls after the 7 year tribulation which could allude to the Atonement for sins.

Some speculate that Sukkot/Tabbernacles could be when the Bride of Christ is taken to the Wedding Supper of the Lamb (rapture) for a temporary shelter from the 7 year tribulation (Daniel's 70th week) as they are in God's protection just as the children of Israel in the desert.

Revelation 14:17-19 KJV - And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle. [18] And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe. [19] And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.

It could also represent the beginning of Jacob's trouble (7 year period), where the people of Israel will have to flee again to the "wilderness" for God's protection?

Revelation 12:6 KJV - And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

Matthew 24:15-21 KJV - When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) [16] Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: [17] Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: [18] Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. [19] And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! [20] But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: [21] For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

Rapture

In 1 Corinthians 15:52, Paul said we, faithful Christians, will be raised incorruptible in the twinkling of an eye at the sound of the "last Trump" and some say that Paul was giving us a clue that points to the Feast of Trumpets as being the day of either the pre-tribulation rapture, or the resurrection of the Saints after the 7 year Tribulation (Revelation 20:4)? I'm inclined to believe it could refer to the pre-tribulation rapture?

However, no man knows the day or hour according to the Bible scripture:

Matthew 24:36 KJVSB - But of that day and hour knoweth no man , no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Yet, according to Apostle Paul, we will see the day approaching:

1 Thessalonians 5:1-10 KJV - But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. [2] For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. [3] For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. [4] But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. [5] Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. [6] Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. [7] For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. [8] But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. [9] For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, [10] Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him (probably referencing 1 Corinthians 15:52).

Jesus, who is God manifested in the flesh (2 Corinthians 5:19), says we must watch for that day or we will not see it coming:

Matthew 24:33-42 KJV - So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. [34] Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. [35] Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. [36] But of that day and hour knoweth no man , no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. [37] But as the days of Noe were , so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. [38] For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, [39] And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. [40] Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. [41] Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. [42] Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
