Muzzling An Ox?
If you're handing money over to church, missions, or a type of Christian ministry, please make sure the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is behind it. If the Pastor is full of the Holy Spirit and annointed and feeds sound doctrine, than there's no reason to not help him with God's work or even to help with his basic needs as Apostle Paul mentions:
1 Timothy 5:17-18 KJV - Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. [18] For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.
Again, Apostle Paul is saying that because he fed us spiritual food, we should feed him which is needful to the body (food, water, clothing, lodging, and supplies needful for the ministry). Like an Ox, he worked for the LORD to give to the church spiritual food, so we should allow him to partake of the material goods according to need:
1 Corinthians 9:8-14 KJV - Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? [10] Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. [11] If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things? [12] If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ. [13] Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar? [14] Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.
It is a shame when a lukewarm church is handing out the offering trays when they are living in excess and not feeding the pure word of truth so that the Church may be spiritually empowered and more fit for the spiritual war that we are in. These pastors sugar coat the gospel of grace to please the flesh, and make themselves rich, yet your soul will not prosper and you will not be made wise unto salvation.
Philippians 3:17-19 KJV - Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample. [18] (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: [19] Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)
Brothers and sisters, be careful not to give money to those who serve themselves and not a true minister of the gospel according to the Bible.
